The Inventory Planning Manager is responsible for the generation of a plan that will achieve the Turns target that supports the Cash objectives. An operational role working in the Sales and Operations Planning group (S&OP), he/she will develop the annual budget and set the regional targets, with input from all accountable inventory owners. Will co-ordinate the monthly review cycle and execute the daily operational activities that drive the execution systems. Will review policies with Sales and Operations input to improve the product availability, maintain market lead-times and maximise CSL (Customer Support Levels) through the setting of efficient inventory levels. Will highlight excesses, eliminate obsolete and minimise the use of premium freight.

They must be able to multi-task, maintain a strong attention to detail, be able to mange activities to agreed timescales, define policies, develop plans and provide effective feedback to all levels of the organisation on status and risk.
Dimensions
*Responsibility globally for the annual and monthly Inventory Planning cycle and targets
*Co-ordination of the definition and generation of metrics and reports showing status, risks and variance to plan
*Engagement of all business areas: Factories, Distribution, Sales, Service Hubs, Field and L&E (7 major RDCs (Regional Distribution Centres) in Asia, US and European, 8 Global manufacturing sites: UK, Czech, Korea, Japan & US and XX Remanufacturing locations)
*Generation of the recommended stock policies, reviews, exception collection and update for equipment operations and distribution network.
*Definition and co-ordination of tactical initiatives: redeployment, fire-sale, strip-conversion necessary to control excess
*To develop own reporting processes - Accountable for documenting all processes and policies and ensuring they are adhered to.
Experience
This position needs someone with functional experience including: Definition of Inventory Polices that can be applied to different types of Customer Value Chains. Transferable experience of strategies that can be deployed in Manufacturing (MTO - Material Take Off / ETO - Engineer To Order/ MTS - Make to Stock), Distribution networks and After Market support.
Experience in operations management or Inventory management
Experience working with SAP planning systems or an equivalent ERP system
An understanding of factory planning, distribution planning and aftermarket service and support
Knowledge and experience of a variety of PC Applications: Access and Excel essential
A degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years experience across more than one area, including 3 years at a senior planning or operational role
Principal Accountabilities
The definition and agreement of targets and action plan to meet the company cash objectives.
Alignment of corporate objectives with regional action plans.
Co-ordination of regional reviews and effective feedback
Establish, monitor and maintain inventory policies. Calculate new policies on a monthly basis and recommend the adjustments necessary to optimise lead-time, CSL, freight and inventory targets.
Nature and Scope
An operational role reporting to the Manager Global S&OP. Involved in global co-ordination and execution level planning to drive the delivery of CVC (Customer Value Chain) objectives and work to improve the policies, supporting business processes and systems.
*Form close working relationships with Sales, CVC (Customer Value Chain) and Operations managers within the company. He/she will be required to influence this peer group.
